Master Spanish Grammar This Summer
7-page beach workbook for A2-B2 | End of Year Review
June arrives and every Spanish learner thinks the same: "I've studied all year, but I'm forgetting everything."
Grammar in lists disappears. The Cuaderno de Verano fixes it — you review preterite, future, and imperfect while talking about vacations, beach days, and childhood summers. Real context = real memory.
☀️ The 7 Grammar Topics (Explained)
1️⃣ Preterite (Indefinido) – Mis vacaciones
We don't drill verb tables. You write a mini-diary about last summer using finished actions. The worksheet gives you sentence starters and time markers (ayer, el verano pasado, en 2023).
Ejemplos:
• El verano pasado fui a Málaga. (Last summer I went to Malaga)
• Comimos paella y nadamos todos los días. (We ate paella and swam every day)
• ¿Qué hiciste tú? (What did you do?)
2️⃣ Future – Planes de verano
Learn the TWO futures natives actually use. Ir a + infinitivo for intentions, and futuro simple for predictions. You create your real summer bucket list.
Ejemplos:
• Este julio voy a aprender a surfear. (I'm going to learn to surf)
• Mañana hará 35 grados. (Tomorrow it will be 35 degrees)
• ¿Vas a viajar este verano? (Are you going to travel?)
3️⃣ Present & Reflexives – Rutinas
Describe your perfect summer day. This is where A1-A2 finally masters me/te/se/nos. From waking up late to putting on sunscreen.
Ejemplos:
• Me despierto a las nueve y me ducho. (I wake up at nine and shower)
• Nos ponemos crema solar antes de salir. (We put on sunscreen before leaving)
4️⃣ Imperative – Gazpacho & Beach Rules
Commands make sense when you cook! Follow a real gazpacho recipe (tú form) and write 5 beach rules for tourists (usted/vosotros). Both affirmative and negative.
Ejemplos:
• Pela los tomates y añade sal. (Peel the tomatoes and add salt)
• No corras cerca de la piscina. (Don't run near the pool)
• Respetad el medio ambiente, por favor. (Respect the environment)
5️⃣ Comparatives – Playa vs Montaña
The ultimate summer debate. Practice más/menos que, tan...como, and superlatives with real opinions. Perfect for speaking activities.
Ejemplos:
• La playa es más divertida que la montaña. (The beach is more fun than the mountains)
• La montaña es tan bonita como la costa. (The mountain is as pretty as the coast)
6️⃣ Gustar, encantar, interesar, molestar
These "backwards verbs" finally click in summer context. You don't memorize rules, you express what you love and hate about summer.
Ejemplos:
• Me encanta nadar en agua turquesa. (I love swimming in turquoise water)
• Nos molesta mucho el ruido. (Noise bothers us a lot)
• ¿Te interesa el surf? (Are you interested in surfing?)
7️⃣ Imperfect vs Preterite – Recuerdos
The B1 nightmare solved with stories. Imperfect describes the background (era, iba, tenía), preterite tells what happened (encontré, me perdí).
Ejemplos:
• Cuando era niño, iba a Valencia cada verano. (When I was a kid, I used to go)
• Un día me perdí en la playa. (One day I got lost - finished action)
